About the Artist
Vian Gebraeel is a female artist based in Southern California whose works specialize in fantastical imagery meant to provoke nostalgic commentary over her development into her ever so evolving definition of womanhood. Her works, produced through digital platforms such as Procreate and Adobe Creative Cloud, use vibrant colors and abstract figures manipulating and blending together, visually representing feelings of isolation, fatigue, sexual intrigue and curiosity, as well as the continual molding of her cultural identity.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, she grew up in an Iraqi American household developing aesthetic values and cultural interests that would lead her to eventually pursue the arts. After moving to the Central Valley in California, she deeply immersed herself within the local art community, organizing and collaborating in several art shows. Eventually she moved to Southern California where she attended the University of California, Los Angeles receiving a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Art History, where her studies were dedicated primarily to the focus of Middle Eastern art history. She now lives in East Los Angeles, marinating on allocating creativity and knowledge within the everyday ritual of post-graduate life.
